Sleeping with the SIN

A crystal female figure rests on a green sofa, seemingly immersed in a deep sleep. Her body appears both vulnerable and seductive, physically present yet almost unreal. The transparency of the glass lends her a sense of fragility, transforming the physical body into an image poised between reality and dream.
The title Sleeping with the SIN plays on the meaning of the word “sin.” It evokes temptation, desire, and the crossing of boundaries, while also referencing the name of SIN Gallery and the very setting for which the work was created.
The motif of sleep recalls archetypal stories in which falling asleep marks a transition into another state, from Snow White to Sleeping Beauty. Yet the crystal figure is not a helpless fairy-tale heroine waiting to be awakened. She remains enclosed within her own world, while the viewer is left in the role of observer.
The contrast between the cool, transparent crystal and the soft green upholstery heightens the tension between body and material, intimacy and distance, innocence and sin. Sleeping with the SIN presents sleep as something that may signify both rest and the consequence of yielding to temptation.
