Mickey Was Born
Edition: 2/6 – blue
Mickey Was Born stems from the artist’s fascination with symbols of popular culture. What matters here is not so much their symbolism as their iconic quality, which becomes deeply embedded in human memory from an early age.
“It is fascinating to observe viewers across generations who can recognize the icon from just a fragment of an ear. Glass gave the entire object a completely new dimension, as its transparency allows the viewer to see the level inside the egg,” comments Pasta Oner.
The work is based on the artist’s original 2015 design made from lacquered laminate and was first exhibited at his solo exhibition at Galerie Mánes in Prague. The piece also incorporates a cleverly concealed jewellery box made of black ebony wood
