Heavy Head Boy

2024

Edition: 1/6 – crystal

The sculpture Heavy Head Boy, also known as Cubiman, depicts a seated man with a cubist-shaped head. Its nearly four-metre-tall version stands guard over the public space around the new Dvorecký Bridge in Prague. A smaller glass version can be found in the SIN collection.

The artist’s intention was to revive the tradition of figurative sculpture, which has gradually been disappearing from contemporary sculptural practice. At first glance, the work recalls Auguste Rodin’s iconic The Thinker. Like Rodin’s figure, the man gazes thoughtfully toward the ground, lost in contemplation — perhaps simply from boredom while keeping watch over the space around him. And from thinking too much, his head has become both large and heavy.
